Lake County man who lost leg in motorcycle crash receives $16 million in lawsuit settlement

A Lake County man who lost a leg when his motorcycle was struck by an employee of a car dealership has settled a lawsuit for $16 million, according to the law firm that represented him.

The multi-million-dollar settlement is believed to be the highest in a Lake County civil case involving a leg amputation, according to attorneys for the firm of Salvi, Schostok and Pritchard, which represented Tim Walsh, the man injured in the crash.

On June 14, 2018, Walsh, then 56, was riding his motorcycle home from work when his motorcycle was struck near the intersection of Woodland Terrance and Hutchins Road in Gurnee.

The driver of the other vehicle was an 18-year-old porter working at Muller Honda of Gurnee, who was driving a new Honda Civic to a gas station to prepare it for a test drive.
