The Ramona Motorcycle Rally Backcountry Run on Saturday attracted about 100 out-of-towners and locals who were eager to enjoy a balmy day of collecting raffle tickets while riding through the backcountry.
The event, which began and ended at Barn restaurant at 344 Main St., raised $3,177 for the the Ramona Chamber of Commerce's Scholarship and Educational Grant programs for Ramona High School students, said Paul Zawilenski, Chamber motorcycle events chairman.
Motorcyclists spent the day collecting raffle tickets at the rally's checkpoints: Motorcycle Monkey, Indian Motorcycle of San Diego, Par Lounge, Cheers of Ramona, Smoking Cannon Brewery, Pamo Valley Winery, Josie's Hideout Saloon, Nickel Beer, San Diego Sunshine and Kit Fox Outfitters.
The event was a "huge success," Zawilenski said. It introduced people to local businesses and allowed them to experience Ramona and the surrounding backcountry — and raised money for students.
