JEFFERSON CITY — Dozens of motorcycle riders from across the state gathered at the State Capitol Tuesday for this year's motorcycle awareness rally. Members of the group Freedom of Road Riders organized the event.
The group helped pass legislation last year allowing motorcyclists 26-years-old and over to ride without their helmets in Missouri if they had health insurance. Those with instructional permits must still wear their helmets. Leaders of the Freedom of Road Riders said the law helped Missouri's economy while it gave motorcycle riders more choice.
