LAPEER, MI -- Motorcycle aficionados can swing through downtown Lapeer on Friday nights this summer to eat at local restaurants, enjoy live music, and see a variety of bikes.
Friday Night Bikes typically begins at 6 p.m. and takes place on Nepessing Street between Mason and Court streets. Those streets are closed to thru-traffic on the day of the event.
"It's been amazing," said James Alt, the Executive Director at the Lapeer Downtown Development Authority. "The idea is - we like doing events down here that are going to create a positive experience, that are going to create memories, and that allow people to enjoy our downtown but also will support local businesses that we have down here and that's our priority – making sure that our brick and mortar, our retail, and restaurants, and businesses that we have here are successful."
The July 16 edition will feature a battle of the bikes night, with the following Friday dedicated to a kid's bike night where kids will compete in a cutest biker contest.
