HOLLISTER, Calif. —
"Even though the city supposedly canceled this event, you can see--look around you--the bikers went 'nah we're coming anyway,'" said biker Steve Barkley.

It's that time of year where bikers come together for the legendary Hollister biker rally. Even though the city didn't participate in organizing, that didn't stop bikers from coming together.

"This is an incredibly important bike rally. This is the Sturgis of California. This is where the whole biker culture started," said Barkley.

"To come out on a holiday and remember what the meaning of this whole holiday weekend is all about. We're flying the colors today when we ride and we're proud of that," said biker Hy Libby.

Usually the rally is filled with thousands of people, playing a huge role in the biker community.

Biker Richard Omara said, "You never know who you're going to run into. You're going to run into somebody you haven't seen in 10 years and it's just like yesterday, ya know? I've run into Vietnam vets that served at the same area I was and all that. It's very important to us."
