Title: Biketoberfest fall motorcycle event revs up Oct. 14
Post by: Shades on October 06, 2021, 08:11:10 AM
DAYTONA BEACH — When Biketoberfest revs up next week, there will be no COVID-19 related restrictions — a change from other biker events since the pandemic began early last year.

In March 2020, city officials worried about the rapidly spreading coronavirus shut down Bike Week's grand finale Saturday night.

About six months later, city commissioners still concerned about COVID-19 decided not to approve the Biketoberfest 2020 permits and exceptions to rules that turn typically quiet corridors into carnivalesque hot spots with outdoor bands and vendors.

The biker festivities resumed for Bike Week 2021 complete with open-air music and sales of T-shirts, beer and turkey legs. But the two-wheeled visitors found 50% capacity limits inside bars and employees encouraging them to use hand sanitizer and wear masks.

Biketoberfest is slated to get its annual fall party underway again Oct. 14 and will run until Oct. 17. Many bikers will be delighted to find that for the first time since the pandemic took hold, Daytona Beach will host one of its marquee biker events without any mandated COVID restrictions.
